Dear FAIR Families,

I hope this message finds you well.

It is a joy to be part of the Fair School Community. It is important to remember that we are one school located on two campuses - FAIR Pilgrim Lane and FAIR Crystal.  We truly do have great students, supportive parents/guardians and committed staff. The more I observe our arts program in action, the more I’m convinced of the educational value the ARTS bring to our students and community.

This past week, we had six jaw-dropping performances of James and the Giant Peach in partnership with Stages Theater. In addition, our 5th grades put on an unforgettable performance through the work of The Heart of Dance.  The dance performances showcased the outcome of twenty sessions designed to foster respect, teamwork, elegance and cultural awareness through eight dances from around the world.

As we continue to build a comprehensive K-8 arts magnet program, I have been in consultation with Superintendent Jenkins, Cabinet members and the School Board about our unique needs at FAIR Pilgrim Lane and FAIR Crystal. As FAIR Crystal continues to build a strong community, definite growth is evident. There also continues to be positive energy in the community around the reopening of FAIR School Pilgrim Lane. As a result, district leadership is recommending that we accelerate our progress on the district’s vision for building FAIR’s K-8 magnet arts program. Doing so will require us to accelerate the proposed extension of grade levels for the 2018-2019 school year from K-2 to K-3.

This change will also require early marketing to compete with the timelines of charter schools and neighboring districts. As a result, effective November 27, 2017, I  will serve as the head principal of FAIR School Pilgrim Lane K-3. Current assistant principal, Zoraba Ross, an experienced middle school and high school principal will become the head principal of FAIR School Crystal 4-8.

Mr. Ross is an exemplary leader with a proven track record of improving student performance and building school community. Current assistant principal Jacqueline Reiter, will work full time at FAIR Crystal. Ms. Reiter has extensive experience in middle school and high school. These administrative assignments will build on the strengths and experiences of Mr. Ross and Ms. Reiter, as well as my experience and strengths in leading elementary schools. Moreover, this move will be a strategic investment in our arts magnet program and assist with stabilizing the transition from third grade to fourth grade.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we move to accelerate our robust programming around the arts at FAIR Pilgrim Lane and FAIR Crystal.  I am confident that FAIR’s greatest days are yet to come.

Respectfully, Mr. Randy Moberg - Principal
