AVID Application Now Open for the 2026-27 School Year

FAIR Families, 

Applications are now open for the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) elective for the 2026-27 school year. This opportunity is available to current 6th and 7th grade students who are interested in strengthening their academic skills and preparing for future college and career success. 

The AVID elective focuses on developing important academic habits and skills such as:

• Writing and critical thinking 
• Collaboration and reading strategies
• Note-taking and organization 
• Study skills and time management
• College and career exploration
• Motivational and leadership activities

Students in AVID are expected to stay organized, maintain a binder, and actively participate in note-taking and learning strategies across their classes. 

Typically, AVID students: 

• Have average test scores
• Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
• Demonstrate a willingness to work hard
• Show determination and positive behavior

Important Scheduling Update

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, AVID will  be offered as a year-long elective course. Because of this, students enrolled in AVID may have room for only one music course in their schedule. Additionally, Spanish B may not fit into an AVID student's schedule due to state requirements for two Art electives. 

How to Apply

Students interested in joining AVID must complete an electronic application posted on Schoology or using this link 26-27 AVID Application.

The application process includes:

• A short written response
• A teacher recommendation
• An interview
